What is a domain name?

A domain name is the name you type into the address bar of a browser (such as Internet Explorer, Chrome or Netscape) to get to a website on the web. A domain name usually reflects your trading name or the subject of your website, for example: trafficmedia.com, news.com, www.education.com are all domain names.
Why do I need to register a domain name?

What does it mean to register a domain name?

By registering a domain name, you have the sole right to the use of this domain name. Your name and business information are added to ICANN's database (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). This process is called registering a domain name. Only ICANN approved registrars (such as TrafficMedia) can register domain names.
Do I own my domain name once it is registered?

A domain name cannot be "owned". Subject to the registrar's terms and conditions by registering a domain name you are entitled the exclusive use and automatic right of renewal.
What is a domain extension?

A domain extension, also referred to as TLD (Top Level Domain), suffix or domain root, is the last part of the domain name, that is, the label that follows the last dot of a domain name. For example, .com, .net, .org, etc. are all domain extensions.
What characters can I use when registering a domain name?

Using our WHOIS search allows the public to see who is the owner of a particular domain name as well as other information about the domain name. Our WHOIS search will provide you with the contact information of the person or organization that registered the domain name you are interested in.

How do I register a domain name?

The registration process is quite simple:
- Choose a domain name. There are millions of available domain names. Try to think of a memorable name that will reflect your trading name or the subject of your website. You can use combinations of several words or separate words with the dash symbol.
- Check domain name's availability. You can check if the domain name you want is available by using our Domain Name Search tool.
- Register. If the domain name you want to register is available, you can buy it using our Domain Registration service. Please bear in mind that new domain names may take up to 72 hours to become available.
How many domain names can I register?

You can register as many available domain names as you like. TrafficMedia Domain Registration service allows you to register several domains at a time (Bulk Register).
How long does it take before my domain is active?

It usually takes about 72-hours before your domain name is active, because all Internet providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect the new site's location.
How do I restore my Username and Password?

Your User Name is the email address that you used during the Signup. To restore a password:
- Click Login > Help me retrieve password.
- In the Customer Email text field, enter the email address you registered with.
- Copy the letters and numbers you see in the captcha (the image on the right of the text field)
- Click Submit. An email with a verification code will be sent to your email address.
- To reset your password, follow the link with the verification code.
I want to transfer domains to TrafficMedia from another registrar. Where do I get the authorization codes (EPP)?

In order to transfer domains from other registrars to TrafficMedia, you need to get the domain authorization code (EPP) You can retrieve the authorization code from your current registrar's support center.
Can I transfer my domains to another TrafficMedia account?

If you want to transfer your domains from one TrafficMedia account to another, use the Push Domains option. To push domains:
- Login to your account..
- Go to Domains > Push Domains.
- Enter the list of domain names you would like to push to another TrafficMedia account. Enter each domain name on an individual line.
NOTE:To upload a TXT file containing a list of the domains you would like to push, click Browse and select the file to upload.
- Enter the AccountID of the destination account and your Password.
NOTE:If you don't want to push the existing contact information to the new account, select the DO NOT Push the Contact Information option.
- Click Submit.
Why do I need to lock my domains?

We strongly recommend keeping your domains permanently locked in order to prevent them from unauthorized deletion or transfer to other registrars.
How do I lock/unlock domains?

To lock/unlock domains:
- Login to your account.
- Go to Domains > Manage Domains.
- Use the checkboxes to select the domains you would like to lock/unlock.
- Click the Locking tab.
- Choose one of the following options:
- Lock: to disable deletion and transfer of domains.

- Unlock: to enable deletion and transfer of domains.
- Click Save.
How do I transfer domains from TrafficMedia to other registrars?

To transfer domains from TrafficMedia to other registrars, follow the steps below:
- Login to your account.
- Go to Domains > Transfer Domain > Bulk Transfer Out.
- In the text field, type the list of domain names you wish to transfer from your account to other registrars.
- To get the authorization codes for these domains, click Submit.

Will the contact information I provide be publically available?

The contact information that you provide during domain registration is publicly available on a "Whois" website. TrafficMedia makes the information available in order to allow rapid resolution of technical problems, as well as various legal issues, such as copyright and trademark protection.
The contact information listed in the Whois database will include your name, address, phone number, email address and domain name expiration date, your host name and IP address.
I didn't renew the domain name and it expired. When will I be able to re-register it?

The redemption period is 45 days after the expiration date. After 5 more days the domain name will be released from our system.

Why is my credit card being declined?

Below is the list of possible reasons, why your order may be declined:

- The information you entered maybe incorrect.

- The 3 digit card code was entered incorrectly.

- You may be over your daily limit.

- Your bank may have disabled internet transactions for your credit card.

NOTE:If the credit card information has been entered correctly and you are still experiencing problems, please contact you bank's support center.
How can I get the invoice?

To download the invoice:
- Login to your account..
- Go to Account > Invoices.
- In the Invoices List section, choose the transaction whose invoice you would like to download and click View to navigate to the View Invoices page.
- On the View Invoices page, click Download and save the PDF file to your computer..
